Since 2 January, when Bitcoin prices reached a 21-month high, there was a sudden collapse last night.

北京时间1月3日晚上8点左右，比特币价格一路跌破41000美元，最低跌至40813.53美元，24小时内跌幅超过10%。而前一天晚上9点左右，比特币价格刚刚突破45000美元大关，创下2022年4月以来新高。截至目前，比特币价格有所回升，约为42900美元。

At about 8 p.m. Beijing time on 3 January, Bitcoin prices fell by $41,000, down to $40813.53, and by more than 10% in 24 hours. At about 9 p.m. the previous day, Bitcoin prices had just crossed the $45,000 mark, reaching a new high since April 2022.

有多家外媒报道称，比特币昨夜暴跌来源于加密投资服务提供商Matrixport的一份研究报告。在该报告中，该机构预计美国证券交易委员会(SEC)将在1月份拒绝所有的比特币现货ETF申请。外媒称，由于这份报告的出现，引发了投资者的恐慌反应。

In this report, the agency expected the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to reject all Bitcoins spot ETF applications in January. According to the external media, the appearance of the report triggered a panic reaction from investors.

当地时间1月3日，Matrixport在官网发布了一份名为《为什么美国证券交易委员会将再次拒绝比特币现货ETF》的报告，并在社交媒体发布了相关推文，引发市场关注。

On 3 January, local time, Matrixport published a report on the Web entitled " Why the US Securities and Exchange Commission will reject Bitcoin spot ETF again ", as well as relevant tweets in social media that generated market interest.

报告称，该机构曾认为，如果SEC对比特币现货ETF的所有要求都得到满足，比特币价格可能会在2024年1月底之前反弹至5万美元。然而，该机构强调，虽然比特币现货ETF申请人与SEC工作人员频繁会面，并重新提交申请，但该机构认为所有申请都未达到SEC批准前必须满足的关键要求。

According to the report, the Agency had considered that the price of the Bitcoin could have rebounded to $50,000 by the end of January 2024 if all the requirements of the SEC-Bit currency spot ETF had been met. However, the Agency stressed that while the Bitcoin spot ETF applicants had met frequently with SEC staff and had resubmitted their applications, it considered that all the applications had failed to meet the key requirements that had to be met prior to the approval of the SEC.

该机构表示，比特币现货ETF被批准可能会在2024年第二季度实现，但预计SEC将在1月份拒绝所有现货ETF申请。

The agency indicated that the approval of the spot ETF in Bitcoin could be achieved in the second quarter of 2024, but that SEC was expected to reject all the spot ETF applications in January.

报告还提及，目前由民主党人主导的五人投票委员会领导层对SEC是否批准比特币ETF申请至关重要，但上述机构认为，SEC主席Gensler并没有拥抱加密货币，因此由他投票批准比特币现货ETF可能性非常小。2023年12月，Gensler曾表示加密行业需要更严格的合规。

The report also refers to the fact that the leadership of the five-member voting committee, currently led by a Democrat, is crucial to the ability of the SEC to approve the Bitcoin ETF application, but the above-mentioned agencies believe that the Chairman of the SEC, Gensler, did not embrace the encrypted currency and that it is therefore very unlikely that he would vote for the Bitcoin spot ETF. In December 2023, Gensler said that the encryption industry needed stricter compliance.

Eric Balchunas, a senior ETF analyst in Bloomberg, expressed doubts about the report. Alex Thorn, research director of the digital asset and block chain Galaxy Digital, also found the report “puzzling” and “puzzling”, after Galaxy had applied to SEC for a marketed Bitco ETF in cooperation with the American investment management giant Invesco.
