于是乎，媒体巨头《纽约时报》正式进军区块链，采用区块链技术打击假新闻。
该项目全名为“新闻出处追溯”（The News Provenance Project），基于超级账本技术建立的一个私有的、经过许可的分布式数据库，由《纽约时报》在IBM Garage部门共同研发。 The whole project is called The News Provenance Project, a privately owned, licensed distributed database based on superbook technology, developed by The New York Times in the IBM Garage sector. 研发团队设想，通过区块链网络共享图片“元数据”，可以有效地帮助新闻读者鉴定图片的真假。研发团队将这一机制命名为概念证明机制（ Proof of Concept，PoC ）。 The research and development team assumes that shares pictures "metadata" through a network of blocks that can be effective in helping news readers to authenticate pictures .
