Futures:
期货是一种跨越时间的交易方式。买卖双方透过签订合约，同意按指定的时间、价格与其他交易条件，交收指定数量的现货。
Futures are a way of dealing over time. The seller and buyer agree, by signing a contract, to deliver a specified amount of spot goods at the specified time, price and other terms of the transaction.
通常期货集中在期货交易所，以标准化合约进行买卖，但亦有部分期货合约可透过柜台交易进行买卖，称为场外交易合约。
Futures are usually concentrated on futures exchanges for sale under standardized contracts, but some futures contracts may be bought and sold through counter transactions, known as off-site trading contracts.
按标的物种类划分，期货可分为商品期货与金融期货两大类，商品期货通常为某种大众产品如棉花、大豆、石油等，金融期货一般为股票、债券等。投资者可以对期货进行投资或投机。
By object type, futures can be divided into commodity futures and financial futures, usually some popular product such as cotton, soybeans, oil, etc. Financial futures are usually stocks, bonds, etc. Investors can invest in futures or speculate.

在期货交易中，无论是多头还是空头，持有人都需要以一定的保证金作为抵押。

利率期货和外汇期货：

利率期货是指以债券类证券为标的物的期货合约，它可以避免利率波动所引起的证券价格变动的风险。利率期货一般可分为短期利率期货和长期利率期货，前者大多以银行同业拆借中场3月期利率为标的物、后者大多以5年期以上长期债券为标的物。
Interest rate futures are futures contracts for securities that are subject to bond-type securities and that avoid the risk of changes in the price of securities arising from interest rate fluctuations. Interest rate futures can generally be divided into short-term interest rate futures and long-term interest rate futures, most of which are based on intermediate March interest rates for bankers and most of which are for long-term bonds of more than five years.
外汇期货又称为货币期货，是一种在最终交易日按照当时的汇率将一种货币兑换成另外一种货币的期货合约。是指以汇率为标的物的期货合约，用来回避汇率风险。它是金融期货中最早出现的品种。
Foreign exchange futures, also known as currency futures, are futures contracts that convert a currency into another currency at the date of the final transaction at the rate of exchange then prevailing.
贵金属期货主要以黄金、白银为标的物的期货合约。
Futures contracts for precious metal futures are predominantly gold and silver.
