On April 20, Mr. Zhou, who came from the new district of Chengdu, took the risk of falling into the financial APP trap. Using a software called TokenPocket, he invested more than 300,000 dollars in virtual currency, which is suspected of fraud. Fortunately, the police officers of the Huan An police station in the new district of China monitored Mr. Zhou’s situation at work and at the time.
On 20 April, at 9 p.m., police officers at the Van An police station discovered during their work that a group of people in a small section of the district suspected of having been defrauded by a “pig-killer” amounting to $300,000.
Upon receipt of the order, the civilian police contacted the property officer in the district on a telephone call to open a preventive campaign and took the police officer, Chen Long, to the man's residence.
Ten minutes later, Jung knocked on Mr. Chow's door. After saying so, he was blind: "I've recently installed a lot of APPs. What are you talking about?"
As a result, Mr. Zhou was given the right to take out his cell phone and direct him to download and install the APP of the National Anti-Fraud Centre to automatically search for suspicious software in his cell phone, and a software named TokenPocket was quickly identified as a risk warning.
Perhaps it was too sudden for Mr. Zhou, who was still in the “money-management trap”, to believe that the APP was a financial software, and to say that he had an online channel for downloading fake currency trading software.
When the civilian police told him that it was an APP suspected of cyber-deception, and that virtual currency transactions were not authorized by the government, and that there was a great risk, Mr. Zhou did not think so. “A lot of people around me are making counterfeit currency, just like stocks, and I've already made some money.” He said.
When Mr. Zhou was firm in his attitude, he was patient in advising him, starting with the Bitcoin, the sector chain, the air currency of every kind, and describing in detail the common tricks of “pig-killing” and “credits”.
After almost an hour of persuasion, Mr. Zhou finally realized the risks and possible consequences of the coins and, in the presence of the civilian police, safely transferred $300,000 out of the trading software.
CIVPOL warns that many outlaws are currently using virtual currency under the guise of virtual currency, which is an inexplicable feature and a gap in the knowledge of ordinary people, to invest in money and in fact carry out criminal activities that violate the law, such as fraud, distribution, etc. The public needs to open their eyes, choose legitimate channels of investment, increase awareness, and avoid being blinded by so-called “low risks, high returns” and guard their “money bags” with reason and wisdom.
